When we think about the various types and functions of selling it can become confusing there are many issues involved and it’s trying to see the connexion between all of them that may lead to confusion.
In this video, we try to present the selling function in terms of ideas, influences, functions, and connexions, and we classified these in boxes and then we tried to link the boxes to get an overall picture. Needless to say, this depends on the product and on the market. So it depends on many factors and any effort to derive an accurate overall single picture is unlikely to be 100% successful. However, in practical terms and within a particular organisation, management needs to have some sort of pictorial representation of the various functions and their interconnectedness. Without this, there may be a lack of control.
There are separate videos on the importance of selling and indeed on the methods of selling and these are discussed in those videos. This video, as I said, tries to make connexions between different aspects of selling and indeed with the other processes that are so necessary within the business organisation.
Finally, and again to repeat what I said above, this is a generalised picture, in practice and within a specific company a different view will be required but the methodology should be the same.
