A high schooler bullied and ostracised for being a gangster’s daughter becomes the sole witness of her father’s murder. Driven to seek revenge she puts herself in the line of fire whatever be the stakes. @Netflix latest title is the high octane action revenge drama ‘My Name’
Directed by Kim Jin-win known for his taut thrillers such as ‘Time Between Dog And Wolf’ (2007) ‘Lawless Lawyer’ (2018) and the recent critically acclaimed dark series ‘Extracurricular’ (2020), displays his skills yet again as he brings together Han Soo Hee, Park Hee-Soon and Ahn Bo Hyun in this pacy crime thriller. Han So Hee known for her roles in Nevertheless, The World of The Married & Abyss admits this has been her biggest challenge. Ahn Bo Hyun last seen as the antagonist in Itaewon Class & The romantic lead in Yumi’s Cell says it was the action genre that fascinated him.
Han So Hee (0:45) - The fact that I was leading the whole piece as a central character was a new experience for me and came with a lot of pressure. I had to strike a balance in the series and exert energy and be responsible to lead the whole series. The thought that I was the central character had immense pressure on me. So that tension, and nervousness motivated me. I started this project with a pleasant level of tension and nervousness. To answer your question on how is my character Ji Woo anything like me, I would say both of us are very determined and driven to get to our destination once we set up the goal for ourselves.
Ahn Bo Hyun (02:01) - As for the reference for my character I had to stick to the script I really didn’t have a reference for myself. My character is a very determined person, he is a strong character on the outside and is leading a drug investigation and I had to look the part. I had to build myself up in terms of gaining weight, my stamina so that viewers can relate to the fact that my character Pildo is a strong character and that was my sole focus. How do I infuse myself in a role now this character is very strong in terms of his values so I tried to find some similarities between myself and the character to make him as real as possible.
Park Hee Soon (02:56) - So the character mu Jin is a very complex one especially with his emotions which he does not show on the outside so it’s quite hard to express him as a character on screen. I had to have a lot of discussions with the director to strike the right balance and we had amazing cast members so their actions and reactions to my character were amazing which helped me get over the challenges I had with my character. As far as a reference there are not so many movies or titles which I could use as a reference for this series so I had to rely on classics such as ‘The God Father Part 1, 2 and 3 and I watched them over and over again.
