In this Community Profile, we introduce you to grade school teacher Brian Black and art educator Jennifer Starkey, who have both worked with Oregon’s Outdoor School program for many years. Like all Oregon students, Brian and Jennifer had the opportunity to go to Outdoor School in 6th grade, an experience they recall fondly—an experience that is now in danger of being denied to many Oregon kids. Friends of Outdoor School is a local organization working to ensure that the cherished Outdoor School experience remains intact, and continues to be available to every Oregon 6th grader.
