The Liners is a unique series exploring the History of the World s Great Passenger ships, the lines that operated them and the remarkable people they carried. Ships Of War covers the period between 1915 & 1936 including America s involvement in the First World War, The Sinking of the Lusitania by a German torpedo and the building of the Mega liners the Queen Mary and the Normandie. The programme also goes on to examine how shipping in the post war years created the biggest period of migration in history and how prohibition during the years of the great depression gave shipping companies the idea of booze cruises to foreign where passengers could enjoy 24 hour drinking.
