We’ve explored Khanyisa’s water shower trunk skills and her sand bath aptitude in the last few videos and today we witness her very efficient mud wallow technique!
Water is such a vital part of elephant life! 🐘💦 It provides hydration, cleaning, stimultion, cooling and a playgound for bonding and fun.
Khanyisa and her herd have been enjoying plenty of swim and mud-bath time at the waterholes in the reserve lately as the temperatures warm up during the afternoon. This time Khanyisa chose to be by Tokwe’s side, with precious allomother and all-grown-up orphan, Kumbura next to them!
Guests at Jabulani in South Africa can watch the herd at some of their dam visits during the day from the safety of a game vehicle at a respectable distance. You can see the vehicle in the background as the herd all enjoy their afternoon at the waterhole.
Khanyisa decides when it’s time to leave and heads out of the dam to graze from the bushes. Tokwe and Timisa are quick to follow her and keep her company.
