Naude’s beach driving skills come in handy for this rescue. The OCN rescuers choose to do a drive by rescue when they use the car to get as close as possible to a group of seals instead of crawling or just running towards them. This approach is most useful when seals are nervous and close enough to the water to get away quickly. The strategy is working out and Antoine catches the seal in the net and the rescuers can remove a ball of fishing line from her chest. The entanglement seems fresh, but the fishing line is so old that the rescuers speculate whether it might have been wrapped around a different animal for a while before finding its way to this seal.
