We are pleased to present the trailer for our film It Cannot Be So.
In this film, a man sets out to understand his anger towards his mother. However, he quickly and repeatedly declares ignorance of any knowledge of the ground from which this anger emerges. Although determined to figure this out, he is seemingly far more dedicated to “not knowing” anything about his real feelings toward his mother.
Captured by the introject (an unexamined rule or should, swallowed whole without discrimination)that one “must love their mother,” he valiantly struggles with the possibility that his reality may be different than his rule.
This session is risky; the therapist follows what he notices ahead of what his client brings forth.
It Cannot Be So has been translated into 18 languages.
The full film, a great resource for therapists and psychology educators, is available for purchase on our Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/ondemand/gestaltfilms
