In this large 60 x 50cm painting I wanted to create a peaceful, tranquil place that you could picture yourself in.
As I love metallic paints and how they catch the light, I wanted to continue with my own style of painting, by painting the entire canvas with the metallics first (mainly DecoArt and some Artiste). Over these I built up layers of matte colours (Monte Marte and Artiste) allowing some of the original metallic to show through in places to create the illusion of light.
I also added some Meeden paints in the grassy area, which tend to have a glossier, slightly plasticy finish to them, and if applied thickly, can give an impasto 3D look to bring the plants to life.
